Atiku Jafar Speaks at Youth Energy Summit (YES! 2025), Cape Town
Managing Partner Atiku Jafar joined a panel on "Youth Innovation in Future Energy Technologies" at YES! 2025, convened by EnergyNet Ltd. and the Africa Energy Forum in Cape Town (18–20 June). Drawing on his concerns for energy poverty in Africa, he addressed the legal frameworks needed to accelerate youth-led clean energy solutions in sub-Saharan Africa: enabling licensing regimes, energy sandboxes, model PPAs, standardised contract templates and de-risking tools for early-stage ventures. Atiku was joined on the panel by Gloria Kuyoh, Osman Ayariga, Damilola Hamid Balogun, Abubakar Shuaibu and Banaiah Namuyu.

At the Youth Energy Summit and Africa Energy Forum 2023 in Nairobi, Atiku Jafar joined a panel of distinguished professionals at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre to explore what it takes to succeed in the energy sector and why entrepreneurship demands more than good ideas. The panel — featuring Kunle Alao Ph.D, Habiba Ali, Tracy Kimathi, Faith Aweko and Damilola Hamid Balogun — examined entrepreneurial mindset and execution, business idea validation, market research and customer engagement, iteration and adaptation, and the critical importance of identifying and managing legal risks affecting reputation, operations and business finance. Atiku emphasised the need for businesses to build brands around transformative visions and to develop the legal frameworks that allow innovation to scale.

The award recognised Atiku's contributions as a YES! Ambassador and founding member of the YES Army, and his commitment to mobilising young people to drive positive change in Africa's energy sector. Atiku is also Pioneer Chair of the International Council of the African Law Students' Association (ALSA), which has partnered with YES! to upskill law students across the continent.

Bowyard Partners attended the ECOWAS Sustainable Energy Forum (ESEF) 2022 — West Africa's premier sustainable energy event, organised by the ECOWAS Centre for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (ECREEE) from 31 October to 1 November. The forum brought together policy makers, regional and international private sector actors, and financial institutions to discuss and improve the policy and regulatory landscapes for private sector investment in sustainable energy across ECOWAS member states. For Bowyard Partners, participation reinforced our commitment to building the partnerships and collaborations needed to accelerate a viable market for sustainable energy solutions across the region.
